We invite you to Valour, the home of imperfect people. We aren’t good, we’re just forgiven, because God reach down to us and gave us Jesus. Our response is to reach up to God, reach in to each other, and reach out to the world.

REACH UP

The word Valour means courage under fire or in battle. We believe that we can fight all of life’s battles on our knees - in prayer and worship. Reaching up to God through prayer, worship and reading his Word is the centrepiece to experiencing the freedom and victory that Jesus has for us, and the only way to live in an authentic relationship with Him.

THE WORD

We desire to empower our Church Family with the perpetual experience of being changed and shaped by God through His word. The Bible is taught clearly and concisely every Sunday at Valour. During our smaller mid-week groups, the Bible will be taught to everyone and by everyone. We aim to collectively wrestle with God’s Word in order to understand His will for our lives, by sharing and discussing what He is saying to us as individuals.

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” - Hebrews 4:12

PRAYER

We believe that God works powerfully and obviously through a lifestyle shaped around persistent intimacy with God expressed through faithful, honest, and expectant prayer. Our main mediums for prayer are during our midweek groups where we are committed to praying faithfully for each other through every season of life, and also our monthly PRAYER SUMMIT. Prayer Summit takes place once every fourth Sunday during our usual meeting time. This is where we gather together as a church to courageously pray through how God has been working in each of our lives and pray for each other, for our families, for Church needs as well as wider global issues.

“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” - Ephesians 6:14-18

Worship

We believe that music not only connects people with God spiritually and emotionally, but that music is a medium for teaching and togetherness. Worship through theologically sound and spiritually engaging songs is a normal part of our Sunday service and Prayer Summit.

Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5:19

REACH IN

We desire to establish a church culture that genuinely loves one another. We trust that by intentionally loving one another, we will publicly display the overflow of the love we have received from Christ. Being disciples of Jesus simply commands this.

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another. John 13:34-35

We want people in our church to feel connected and cared for. That’s why we make intentional effort to have each other over for lunch after church on Sunday so that we can create and foster friendships and allow people to bless others and be blessed. We also have Community Groups, which are midweek small groups that meet in our homes. They are formed to suit the varying life situations of those wanting to dig deeper into the Bible and connect more with God and each other.

REACH OUT

We believe that there is life transforming power in knowing Jesus. Therefore, we desire to create a culture where individuals live to create opportunities to share their faith clearly and courageously through the simple yet effective model known as Prayer, Care and Share.

We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ's behalf: Be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5:20

The body of Christ is diverse, and each of us have our own passions for how to reach out to the world. At Valour we want to empower each other to pursue the avenues that God gives us as individuals to reach out to people who don’t know Jesus. We are all missionaries in our own families, schools and workplaces, and so we care about sharing Jesus by praying for people, meeting their practical needs, and sharing the gospel with them.

There are also countless missionaries and organisations that do amazing work for God’s kingdom, and we encourage one another to support missions that God has put on our hearts whether by giving financially, praying or volunteering.
